Anna Maria Horner's voile prints kept catching my eye. But I had felt the buttery softness and maybe slippery texture of voile in person and was very intimidated to sew with it. After hearing only good things about it, I took on the challenge. With the help of awesome Instagram friends, my voile collection grew and was plentiful enough for a queen size quilt.
And so it began, the Voile Disappearing 9-patch Quilt. Here are the details....
To refresh my memory on the 9-patch, I visited a wonderful tutorial from Just Quilty.
Queen quilt measuring 88" by 99"
First press all fabric and spray with starch or Best Press.
-Cut 162 - 8" squares.
-Divide these into 18 piles of 9 squares. I like to divide them up to keep colors separate.
-Sew each pile of 9 squares into a 3x3 block pattern and then cut them into 4 squares, that will measure 11 inches each. Follow Just Quilty's tutorial for photo details.
-Now you will have 72 - 11 inch blocks. These were arranged 8 wide by 9 long.
Be sure to make your quilt even more amazing with a voile backing and binding!
